No Final Fantasy XIII outside of Japan until at least 2010

As the company revealed its 2008 year-end numbers, Square-Enix president Yoichi Wada confirmed that while Final Fantasy XIII, the long awaited RPG, would be arriving on the PlayStation 3 in Japan in 2009, it won’t be available in overseas markets until at least the 2010 fiscal year.
That means we’re looking at April 2010, at the earliest, before it comes stateside.

The company, currently focsed on finalizing the game for its Japanese launch, won’t talk specifics about when the game is slated to hit North America or Europe, but has previously confirmed that development on the Xbox 360 version of the game won’t begin until the PlayStation 3 version has been completed.
This leaves us waiting just a little bit longer for the game, but honestly, we’re not surprised. Regretful of the fact that we don’t speak Japanese, sure, but surprised? Nah.
